A new survey by Lake Research Partners of likely voters across four of the nation’s largest cities – New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco – shows very strong support for raising the minimum wage over a period of several years for all workers, including tipped workers, to a living wage of $30 an hour.
Two thirds of likely voters in these cities (66%) support the proposal1, by a whopping margin of +45 points. Across demographics, including gender, age, and race, wide majorities of voters support the proposal, and support far outweighs opposition. Notably, Democrats (78%), women (72%), voters under age 40 (72%), Black voters (80%), and Latino voters (73%) are even more strongly in support of raising the minimum wage.
