2024 will be an important election year for the country and for New York State. However,
numerous electoral analyses have raised alarms around the potential non-participation
of the critical youth voter population this cycle given extreme dissatisfaction and anger
among youth with elected officials over several key issues frequently covered in the
media, including foreign policy.1
Yet the media has hardly covered what multiple polls
show are the absolute highest priorities among youth voters: ‘the rising cost of living’
and ‘jobs with living wages.’
Many young voters are focused on the rising cost of living and the need for better paying jobs, making wage policies a major issue in upcoming elections.
